Prairie-dogging refers to the practice of workers in an open-plan office raising their heads above the partitions1 surrounding their desks when they hear a loud voice or other noise.  開放式辦公室中的員工在聽到喧嘩的聲響或者其他聲音時，總?cè)滩蛔≡诟褡娱g抬頭張望，觀察四周的動靜，這就是“土撥鼠效應(yīng)”。   Whenever there's a loud sound or other unusual occurrence2, everyone pops up to look over the walls to see what's happening. Co-worker conversations and team meetings may also take place via prairie dogging as an alternative to the water cooler or conference room.  無論是有較大的聲響還是異乎尋常的動靜，所有人都抬起頭來，目光越過隔間的隔板，想看看發(fā)生了什么。像土撥鼠般抬頭，目光越過隔板，這樣還可以進行同事交談以及開團隊會議，而不用去茶水間或者會議室。
