neither等的用法總結(jié)
The smaller islands, such as the Isle of Man are neither part of the United Kingdom
nor independent.
Neither of them is very big, but they become a large river when joined together,
and yet larger when joined by a third river, about three miles below the city.
這兩句話分別用到了neither的兩個(gè)用法，為了使同學(xué)們對(duì)neither一詞有更
深的了解，現(xiàn)筆者就將neither的用法作一個(gè)小結(jié)。
1. neither用作形容詞，表示“(兩者)都不”，置于單數(shù)名詞之前。
Neither article is made in Beijing. 這兩種物品都不是北京制造的。
I will participate in neither game. 那兩項(xiàng)比賽我都不參加。
We discussed neither subject.這兩個(gè)問(wèn)題我們都沒(méi)有討論。
提醒注意：在口語(yǔ)中以not... either...替換neither使用的情形也很多。例如：
They bought neither house. = They didn't buy either house. 兩間房子他們都沒(méi)
買(mǎi)。
2. neither用作代詞，表示“兩者都不，雙方均不”。例如：
He answered neither of the letters. 他兩封信都沒(méi)回。
She bought two toys, but neither can please the child. 她買(mǎi)了兩個(gè)玩具，卻沒(méi)有
一個(gè)能讓小孩高興。
—Which one would you like? 你喜歡哪一個(gè)?
—Neither. 兩個(gè)都不喜歡。
此時(shí)，與neither用法較為接近的詞是none，但none的含義略有不同，none
表示“(三者以上)所有的……都不”。例如：
None of us are perfect. 人無(wú)完人。
提醒注意：neither作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，通常被視為單數(shù)，但從意義上講也可視為復(fù)數(shù)。
Neither of the cars was / were damaged. 兩部車(chē)都沒(méi)有受損。
3. neither用作連詞，常用短語(yǔ)為neither...nor...，表示“既不……也不……”。
例如：
Neither he nor I am well educated. 他和我都沒(méi)受過(guò)良好教育。
I have neither time nor money. 我既沒(méi)時(shí)間也沒(méi)錢(qián)。
The novel is neither realistic nor poetic.那部小說(shuō)既不寫(xiě)實(shí)也沒(méi)有詩(shī)意。
提醒注意：①neither和nor后面接同一詞性的單詞或短語(yǔ)。
�、趎either...nor...結(jié)構(gòu)用作主語(yǔ)時(shí)，謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞必須與nor后面的名詞或代詞在
人稱(chēng)及數(shù)上保持一致，即所謂的就近原則。
③在表示“既……也……”，即“兩者都……”時(shí)，常用短語(yǔ)both...and...;
表示“或者……或者……”(即二者選一)時(shí)，常用短語(yǔ)either...or...。
4. neither用作副詞，作“也不”解釋?zhuān)旁诰涫祝硎厩懊娣穸ǖ膬?nèi)容也適
用于另一個(gè)人或物，句子須采用部分倒裝。此時(shí)也可用nor替換neither使用。
—I don't like this dress. 我不喜歡這件連衣裙。
—Neither / Nor do I. 我也不喜歡。
If you don't suppose the plan, neither / nor will I. 如果你不支持那項(xiàng)計(jì)劃，我也
不支持。
提醒注意：neither之后的主語(yǔ)要置于助動(dòng)詞或系動(dòng)詞之后。
